Program Success
With the Career Choices curriculum over 100,000 summer youth program participants have developed life skills, learned work maturity, and improved academic performance. The Department of Labor has recognized the curriculum as a "Best Practice" educational enrichment.
The curriculum is successful in a variety of summer programs. Classroom instructors use Career Choices with Possibilities (the language arts anthology) to enhance reading and writing skills while improving attitudes toward learning. Math remediation classes use Lifestyle Math to give young people a chance to practice and improve basic computation skills in a motivational, real-world application. Worksite supervisors and teachers alike use the curriculum contextually as part of an on-the-job career and life planning process. School-to-work and other year-long efforts link the program with career awareness and exploration objectives.
