Students impacted by this future-focused curriculum
“Whether you’re 18, 38, or 58, the career decision-making process is the same. You’ve provided a tool that can be referred to over a lifetime.”
“We wanted to do something about the school’s academic culture starting with the freshman class. In our second year, we had a 38% drop in freshmen with three or more Fs, and GPAs went up 15%.”
“Giving [students] this direction is going to help with everything you can imagine in your school… whether it’s discipline…or if it’s your dropout rate or your test scores. It will help across the board.”
The Career Choices series and My10yearPlan.com® are the missing link for pathway programs. Upon completion of this outstanding course, students are prepared to make carefully considered pathway choices and enter any pathway with the information and motivation to succeed.
“It’s like having a career counselor in a package! It gently guides the reader through the process of making some of life’s most important decisions.”
What’s remarkable about these materials? The self-discovery, career exploration, and planning process students work through as they develop their own 10-Year Plan reignites their confidence, turning their view of the future from one filled with endless challenges and setbacks into something promising and full of possibility.
This unique, hybrid course promotes college and career readiness by providing a classroom-based, in-depth guidance experience that culminates with students creating a very personal online 10-Year Career and Education Plan.
They develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to successfully examine their own lives, evaluate a wide range of education options, foster a growth mindset, and establish reasoned and researched career and life goals for their future.
When students can envision a productive life of their own design – not a canned plan resulting from an online survey – and, at the same time, understand the consequences of not following through with their education plans, the motivation to stay in school and realize their goals increases. As they become intrinsically self-motivated learners, dropping out, whether it’s high school, college or life, is not a choice they make.
A History of Dual Enrollment Success
Since 2009, over 1,160,127 students (and counting) have benefited from the life-defining process outlined in the Career Choices series course materials, and approximately 20% of those students were able to earn early college credit for the course. Perfect as a required course for all entering 9th grade students, schools adopting this equitable strategy ensure that EVERY student develops a vision and plan for a productive future. From this experience, student enrollment in dual credit courses increase dramatically.
